everyone is scared of the word "motivation" nowadays.
"fuck motivation!"
"discipline over motivation!"
while discipline is 100% required to become successful,
motivation is important too.
here's why:
motivation is the spark.
it's what gets you started.
it's the thing that ignites the flame.
the catch?
the spark doesn't last long.
you need wood to keep the fire going.
or else the spark was wasted.
discipline is what keeps the momentum going.
motivation is what makes you start.
discipline allows you to work on bad days.
but without motivation, you wouldn't have a reason to even work at all.
how to start from 0:
if you're at 0 right now.
if you don't have a business to grind on, you don't go to the gym, etc.
you need motivation.
not discipline.
motivation.
you need to focus on igniting the flame before maintaining it.
so how do you get motivation?
it's not what you think it is.
you're not going to get your motivation from watching highly edited david goggins dopamine videos on tiktok.
there's 2 things you need to spark real motivation:
ambition
expectancy
ambition is just wanting to start.
i want to go to the gym.
i want to start a business.
i want to start meditating.
that's ambition.
tap into your deep dark desires... the reason behind those want's.
why do you want to start a business?
"because i want to retire my mother."
go darker and deeper.
"because it breaks my heart seeing my mother wake up early with bags under her eyes to go defrost the windshield of our car so she can drive to work."
that's better.
the deeper and darker your reason to do something,
the more motivation you'll get to do that.
anyway, here's the second thing you need for motivation:
expectancy.
expectancy is expecting results.
"b- but wxng, you always say to work without expecting results!"
work without expecting quick results.
if you don't expect something to work, ever,
you won't even try.
but if you think that the results will be fast,
you will just give up after 3 weeks.
believe in yourself.
believe that if you work your ass off consistently on a business for 3 years,
you'll automatically be at $10k/month.
expect and believe in the outcome.
just not the fast outcome.
now you know how to find motivation.
connect a deep dark desire to the thing you want to do... and believe in it.
that's the only thing you need if you're starting from scratch.
you will have more opportunities to build discipline later.
motivation will get you started.
discipline will keep you going.
